I was fortunate enough to sit down with Dr Ally Jaffee and Dr Iain Broadley, the founders of Nutritank.

Nutritank is a triple-award winning non-for-profit organisation established in 2017 by then medical students Dr Ally Jaffee and Dr Iain Broadley. Nutritank’s mission is to increase nutrition and lifestyle medicine education within medical training. Nutritank have produced key research, informed policy, featured in media with celebrities like Jamie Oliver and have created a national network of like-minded individuals.

Dr Ally Jaffee is a multi-award winning NHS Junior Doctor. Dr Ally is the recipient of the BBC Food & Farming New Talent Award,The Diana Award and The Prime Minister’s Points of Light Award.Ally is the co-founder of Nutritank, a hub for Nutrition & Lifestyle Medicine Medicine Education.

Ally has worked closely with the likes of BBC radio 4 presenter Sheila Dillon and even Jamie Oliver. Ally has featured in articles for the Metro and BBC news. Ally’s passion for nutrition in Psychiatry saw her recently piloting a cooking programme on a Psychiatric unit in London, with promising results. Ally believes strongly in authenticity and openness and shares her own mental health struggles online, and hopes to normalise the conversation. Ally is a proud ambassador of the charity YouOkayDoc- set up to support doctors’ mental health.

Dr Iain Broadley is a multi-award-winning Junior NHS doctor, social entrepreneur, and co-founder of Nutritank. With its origins as a single university society, Iain has helped oversee the enterprise scale to two thirds of medical schools in the UK, further adding to his mission to increase nutrition and lifestyle medicine training into healthcare.

Alongside numerous features on BBC Radio 4s’, “The Food Programme” and publications on BBC News online, Iain has enjoyed speaking at numerous Innovation conferences including at the Royal Society of Medicine annual event. Iain’s collaboration with Jamie Oliver on “Jamie and Jimmys Friday Night Feast” led onto forming a partnership with Oliver’s team to launch the“#nutrition4medics” media campaign. This proved instrumental in adding a clause to the NHS Long Term Plan introducing a commitment to increase nutrition education for healthcare professionals.
