#87 Dr Saima Ajaz - The Liver doctor: tackling liver disease through lifestyle medicine

How can we prevent liver disease? Why is liver disease so prevalent today and what can we do to treat it?

Dr Saima Ajaz is a highly trained clinician with a deep passion for Lifestyle Medicine. She holds certifications from the British Society of Lifestyle Medicine and the International Board of Lifestyle Medicine.

Me and Saima go way back, she invited me to speak at Kings College Hospital to her LivFit group some time ago, she is a truly inspirational individual and I was really privileged  to record this podcast at her house in London.

Int his episode we do a deep dive into Liver disease. A topic which I know very little about but it’s something which is incredibly prevalent within the population today. We discuss:

  • The primary divers of liver disease

  • The role of lifestyle medicine in preventing liver disease

  • Treatments on the horizon

  • Much much more

Dr. Ajaz earned her MPhil in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, followed by a PhD in Diabetes, Endocrinology, and Metabolism from King’s College London in 2016. With over 17 years of experience as both a medical doctor and a researcher in the translational field, she has dedicated her career to investigating non-invasive biomarkers and preventative strategies for early detection of chronic metabolic diseases.

Dr. Ajaz has led pioneering research in Metabolic-Associated Steatohepatitis Liver Disease (MASLD), blending her expertise in liver diseases and diabetes.
